Sleigh Bells are ringing!

Morning everyone, time for another Video on the making of this image with whole process from initial sketch to finished piece. First however, let’s do a little round up of what’s happening in the illustration world.

the Association Of Illustrators (AOI) have just announced the new 2020 awards is now open for entries until the 18th of February. All the details are here.

Rheged in Penrith just announced the Great Print Exhibition which is in its 5th year and is the biggest in the UK. It has 80 artists taking part with over 500 artworks displayed. It is staged in the new gallery which also has a new shop, so a must for anyone living or visiting the Lake District between now and the 8 March 2020 and it’s free. Details here

The V and A illustration awards 2020 is also open for entrants and is free to enter which is a great bonus. This prestigious competition has been running since 1972 and is a great competition for students covering 3 categories of book cover design, book illustration and illustrated journalism. All the details here

On a more personal note, with Christmas soon upon us I’ve been designing and making Christmas cards which has been difficult, as many of you may know I’ve one less card to make this year due to the recent death of my mother. Making cards for everyone else has been one of the harder jobs I’ve had to do, with many mixed feelings about the approaching holiday. However, done they are, ready to send out.

What have you been up to over the last few weeks, what’s been difficult, what have you loved? Leave your answers in the comments below I’ll pick one at random and the winner will receive a high quality image of their choice from any of the images on the website you are free to use anyway you wish personally, but if putting it in the public domain please credit me. It is not to be used to gain money, other than if used for something that is sold for charity. (Contact me if you are unsure). I’ll leave the competition open until 31st January.

now for your video, (thank you for your patience)

That’s all for now, see you soon
